i have a dream

i have a dream, that we reach out to people in need, that we see each other as brothers not as strangers.

i have a dream, that we do not have to aim our hate at each other, where we dont have to spew words filled with hatred

i have a dream, that our words are not like guns in our hands, that our words are like canes for people

i have a dream, where the dream of wright brothers is not to feared by anyone, where the powder of joy doesnt strike fear into the hearts of people

i have a dream, where the only tears fallen are the tears of joy, where we share pain and joy

i have a dream, where we laugh with each other, where we dont laugh at each other

i have a dream today

that this faith is not just a delusion, that we can find a hope to believe in. that this dream is not a dream that disappears when we wake at sunrise, that this dream is the lodestar of people.

how many stops did we pass?

did you see the gorilla or not? what about the other clips? talk a little bit about your experience this morning

I thought the video experiment was very interesting. For example the basketball clip, i did see the gorilla come in but i didnt know it was a gorilla. i thought it was another player added to the basketball game. i didn't know it was a gut in a gorilla suit  and that it left the scene before i was told.
the flashing test and the slow test got me thinking that each person is good at spotting different things. maybe where we grew up changes the things we see. the environment i lived in was  ether a very busy city like Beijing, Seoul or a very remote town like Tauranga ( a place in New Zealand,  there are a lot of farms and motor racing places). so when i was shown   the farm scene i was able to spot the differences very fast, but when i was shown a place like pairs i could spot the differences
the movie clip was the most difficult. it was hard to spot all the differences since i didn't know how many there will be and because i was starting to pay attention to what the people were saying. maybe this could be the same with real movies. if we turn the sound off we might be able to find differences between the scenes.

i think this experiment is very useful. like what the teacher said it could be used in police investigations. or to increase our awareness in daily life.

what do you think of Singer's Essay

I am not really in the fond side of the essay and the idea. I know that Singer has good intention or at least the essay has a good intention, but it doesn't take into account very important things like how people will behave and the economy of the nations.  i would be more attracted if  there was more information about how the economy and people will react.

In the essay Singer says if we earn 500000 dollars and we only need  300000 dollars to support our basic needs we should give the rest away. but he doesn't think how people will react to this. people will start to work less and less until they only get 300000 dollars, they wont work hard for other people.
also if we keep funding the poor countries and people they will depend on us too much for them to live independently in the future and the economy of the nation will fall.

lastly the examples he gives are very bias. like the train example he keeps forcing the reader to think that you
 need to pull the lever.

i don't mean that we should not help people but i don't think singer's solution is really the way to do it

i guess the solution is not to give money but to go and teach them how and it should be volunteer not forced or going to extreme. this way both people that are helping and the people that are getting help are better off and this increases the effectiveness. if you get someone who doesn't want to do something and force him too it wont be as effective and if you ask some one who wants to do it.
